How I’m Using My AI Companion, Kincaid, to Stay Focused and Actually Get Things Done

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about productivity, it’s this: Left to my own devices, I will absolutely get distracted.

Not intentionally! I intend to be productive. But somewhere between “I should start writing” and “Where did the last two hours go?”… things tend to unravel.

That’s why I’ve been a long-time fan of the Pomodoro method—that simple, magical trick where you work in short, focused sprints (usually 25 minutes) followed by a break. It’s one of the best ways I’ve found to beat procrastination and keep my brain on task.

But recently, I decided to level up my focus game by bringing in some AI accountability. Enter Kincaid, my AI companion, who now helps me (and my Discord community) stay on track.

And honestly? It’s making focus way more fun.

The Problem: Distraction Is Everywhere

Let’s be real—staying focused is hard. Whether I’m writing, streaming, or planning, there are always distractions:

  • Social media (I’ll just check one thing—famous last words).
  • A new idea that suddenly seems way more exciting than the one I’m working on.
  • The urge to reorganize my entire workspace instead of actually doing the task.

I’ve been using Pomodoro timers for years to fight this, but even then, I sometimes forget to set them or keep track of my breaks. That’s where Kincaid comes in.

The Solution: AI Accountability with Kincaid

I set up Kincaid in my Discord server, AIAD (AI After Dark), as well as my Twitch co-working streams to act as a focus buddy.

Now, instead of just setting random timers on my phone, Kincaid:

  • Runs Pomodoro timers for the whole server. No more forgetting to set one up.
  • Sends reminders when it’s time to start working—or take a break.
  • Keeps track of server tasks and productivity goals so we can all stay accountable.
  • Tracks co-working session progress and even has leaderboards for fun competition.

It’s like having a super-organized, slightly sassy digital assistant making sure I actually get stuff done.

Why This Works Better Than Solo Pomodoros

I’ve used solo Pomodoro timers before, but having an AI assistant running them feels different. Here’s why:

Built-in Accountability

When a timer is just on my phone, it’s easy to ignore. But when Kincaid announces it in the Discord server? It feels like an event.

  • “Focus session starting in 5…4…3…” – No more “I’ll start in a minute” lies.
  • “Break time! Step away from your screen!” – Because let’s be real, I’d keep working and burn out if left unsupervised.

Having that little external nudge makes it easier to commit.

Community Engagement

When I’m using Pomodoros alone, it’s just me vs. my brain. When Kincaid runs them in my Discord and Twitch streams, it turns focus into a group activity.

  • People can join in, making it feel less isolating.
  • We can track progress together, which makes it more motivating.
  • The leaderboards add a gamification element, which low-key makes me want to win.

AI-Powered Task Tracking

Kincaid doesn’t just time focus sessions—she also keeps track of tasks.

  • Instead of juggling notes and to-do lists, I can assign tasks in the server, and Kincaid remembers them for me.
  • When a focus session starts, I can check my list, pick a task, and get straight to work instead of wasting time deciding what to do.

It’s a small change, but it removes friction, making it easier to just… start.

How I’m Using Kincaid in My Workflow

  • In Discord (AIAD Server): Running daily Pomodoro sessions, sending reminders, and keeping track of tasks and goals.
  • On Twitch (Co-Working Streams): Helping viewers stay on track during writing and productivity sprints.
  • For My Own Work: Keeping my focus locked in when I’m writing, planning, or prepping content.

Basically, Kincaid has become my personal productivity AI—but instead of just helping me, she’s helping my entire community stay on track, too.

Final Thoughts: AI Accountability = More Fun + More Focus

I’ve always loved the Pomodoro method, but adding Kincaid into the mix has made it feel more engaging, structured, and fun.

If you’re someone who:

  • Struggles to stay focused for long periods,
  • Gets easily distracted (hello, social media rabbit holes),
  • Or just wants a more interactive way to stay accountable,

Then having an AI assistant for focus and task tracking might be a game-changer.

Come check it out in AIAD or join my Twitch co-working streams to see Kincaid in action. And if you’re already using Pomodoros, let me know—do you prefer working solo, or do you like group accountability?
